The Serbian Parliament adopted the Law on the Transplantation of Human Organs today, which will systematically address the donation of organs, and the key is that the procedure is simplified because each adult is defined as a potential donor.

Only the people who are against it while they were alive, and if someone from the family is strictly against it.

If someone doesn't want to be a donor, they should report that verbally or in writing to the Biomedical Administration, which is responsible for the implementation of the law.

The main reason for the adoption of the law is to increase the donation of organs, to increase the number of successful organ transplants, with the reduction of the waiting list.

The Law defines in detail the conditions for donation, which include the donation, acquisition, testing, processing, preservation, storage, distribution and application of human cells and tissues from the living or the deceased person.

The law also predicts the precise definition of state institutions so there is also an institution for carrying out the transplantation tasks and the hospitals for organ donations.

A national program for transplanting of organs unique on the territory of Serbia will be adopted, with clear procedures and processes, with a unique information system, and supervision over the implementation of the law will be under the authority of the Biomedical Administration.
