This is the driver of the bus of death: The Miracle Milan couldn't explain why the footage doesn't match with his statement

The Nis police arrested Milan Zdravkovic (31) from Aleksinac, who they call Miracle, because of a serious offense against public traffic safety, because on December 21st he caused a traffic accident at a railway crossing in Donje Medjurovo, whose balance sheet was seven dead and thirty injured.

He was brought to the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Nis, where he made a statement after which the pre-trial judge of the Basic Court in Nis ordered detention up to 30 days.

As we unofficially find out, Milan claimed that he stopped at the railway crossing and looked left and right to see if the train was coming, after which the composition hit him. He could not explain how he didn't see the train coming from the left side.

However, his claims were denied by the videos of the security camera from the bus, where it can be seen that he didn't look if it is safe to cross the railway.

He could go to prison from one to eight years from the criminal offense.

DETAILS OF THE ACCIDENT IN DONJE MEDJUROVO

To recall, the passenger train collided with a full bus around 7:30 and cut it in half. Three people died on the spot, there was a child among one of them, and two more died during the day. The last victim passed away today, whose condition worsened in the night between January 1 and 2.

The bus, which left Novo Selo for Bubanj at 7.10, was driving mostly students who went to school, crashed with a train on a crossing near Done Medjurovo.

Two halves of the bus ended up on two different parts of the railroad.

Head of the police Vladimir Rebic said that the tragedy occurred most probably due to bus driver's error.

There was an official statement from Nis Express, a company that transported the passengers, six hours after the accident.

The deputy director, Novica Tasic, said on the conference which took place on December 21st, that he doesn't want to discuss the cause of the accident, until the officials finish their investigation, because the fact that the crossing wasn't marked must be taken into account.

- We have warned the authorities multiple times, not just for this one, but for other crossings as well because we drive all over Serbia, and that they have to be marked properly with lights and ramps.

- The driver passed the physical examination on June 17th 2017, and they must go for the examinations every two years. The driver is 31 years old, he has 5 years of experience, and he has been a year and a half with our company. He finished the shift yesterday at 16:45 and he started working this morning at 6:25, which shows that all conditions were fulfilled regarding the necessary rest. The bus was checked, the driver subjected to alcohol test and all conditions were fulfiled - said Tasic.

THEY WAITED FOR THE RECOVERY OF THE DRIVER, POLICE GUARDED HIM 

Prosecutor Sasa Djokic said on December 22 that the investigation was immediately carried out, but that the process can not be continued until the driver, also injured in an accident, does not recover.

He was in an induced coma, in a critical condition because of head and chest injuries.

The driver was guarded by the police during the treatment.

THE LOCALS PROTESTED 

The protest on the railway line near Nis was organized by locals for two days after the tragedy, seeking responsible for the death of their dearest and to secure the railway. 400 of them blocked the railway traffic.
