We have stepped deep into October, we are effectively already making plans for November, and it is time to deal with the winter vacation. Some shop windows already have New Year's decorations... So, the winter is here.

Mountain holiday houses are in high demand. Although their popularity is nor really decreasing throughout the year, there are some prime periods: May-August and November-January. When it comes to the colder months, those who can go on vacation in November, prefer that month over the days around the holidays, in order to avoid crowds.

We checked the current prices of rental houses on Serbia's best known mountains, such as Stara Mountain, Kopaonik, Tara and Zlatibor.

The famous log cabins give the impression of a real winter fairy tale, as if in romantic movies, so it is not surprising that they come with a higher price, especially if they are well furnished. Stara Mountain definitely has something to offer, and the focus is on Crni Vrh. At the moment, there is a holiday house on offer that costs 90 euros per night, and the ad states that in addition to the standard rooms, it also has a yard with a swing and a barbecue.

Mt. Kopaonik is traditionally becoming more and more crowded as we enter the winter months, with more competition. Apart from hotela, this mountain offers mountain homes, but also aparments. Lately, there has been a boom in the buying of apartments for rent on Kopaonik. Owners often sign contracts with agencies or investors, who take care of the space and welcome guests throughout the year, but they take a certain, not so small percentage for that service.

All in all, judging by the ads, the price is often a matter of striking a deal, while there are also fixed ones. As this location is extremely popular, owners do not need to haggle. Current prices range from 40 to 120 euros per night in a holiday home, so the average would be 60-70 euros.

What can be said about Mt. Zlatibor that has not already been said? This place, which looks more like a town than a mountain peak, is full of tourists during all 12 months of the year. There is construction at full steam, and whenever you visit Zlatibor - works are in progress, you come across gravel and excavators. There are hotels, houses, and above all apartments. They are well equipped, from standard to luxury, and renting them has long since become an extremely lucrative business.

However, this time we are focusing on holiday homes, which cost an average of 35 to 60 euros per night, although there are cheaper options for about 15 euros. Be sure to keep in mind that this is not the peak season, so we came across a house for which the owner is asking only 6 euros per night. It is located in Vojvodjanska Street, which is relatively close to the center and the lake.

Mt. Tara also has a horse in the race, and can match the prices and offers on the other well known mountain gems in our country. Its wilderness attracts all those for whom Zlatibor is too noisy and urbanized, while Kopaonik is too expensive and "elite." And what about the prices?

Villas on Tara cost around 100 euros per night, and of course everything depends on the location, quality, size. You will certainly be able to rent a decent holiday home for 35 to 40 euros per night, and many ads state that the price is negotiable.
