One of the symbols of suffering during 1999 is Milica Rakic, a 3-year-old child who died when a bomb fell into her house and killed her while she was in the bathroom.

Her death poses as a part of collective memory of NATO bombing Serbia.

Milica Rakic died on April 17, 1999. Her father Zarko stated about the scene he saw.

- Bathroom was full of bomb parts, which fell with utmost strength and broke through the wall. "We lost her" were the first words that came through my head. She had a great wound on her thigh through which she bled out, along with other wounds.

Her father brought her to the local hospital, and the family was notified over TV that Milica had passed away.

When we tried to reach Milica's mother Dusica yesterday, March 24, she did not want to talk with us.

A parent's sorrow does not stop, and the name of their daughter will stay forever in the memory of the people.

Her portrait is located in the monastery Tvrdos in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and there were initiatives that she becomes the a martyr.
