The United States Embassy in Tirana expressed disappointment with the statements made by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama about the possibility of unifying Kosovo and Albania, assessing it as "reckless rhetoric".

EU responded to Rama's statement that Albania and Kosovo should have one president

- The United States Embassy is disappointed with Prime Minister Rama's statements on Kosovo and Albania on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Kosovo's independence. The reckless rhetoric that alludes to unification is not helpful and damages Albania's relations with neighbors - says the message published on the official account of the Embassy on Twitter.

The US Embassy in Tirana invited, in the same message on the social network, "all the leaders to be good neighbors and to leave the rhetoric from the past that creates divisions".

The message was published in Albanian and English.

Rama said in Pristina on Sunday that "Albania and Kosovo will have a common foreign policy, not just common embassies and diplomatic missions".

"Why not even one president as a symbol of national unity and a common national security policy", Rama said ad a formal session in the Kosovo Assembly on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the unilateral declaration of independence.
