Tijana Bugarcic (11) is a special case among the musically gifted children. Besides being creative and naturally talented, she has a perfect hearing - only one out of 10.000 people is born with it.

That means that this 11 year old composer has the ability to identify or reproduce the sound with identical tone, without improvisation.

- If my mother raised her voice or a dog barks or a flowerpot falls down, I can immediately transform the sounds of the notes, with the help of my piano - says Tijana. - I can determine the tonality of voice of about anyone.

In her world, music is everywhere around us and it carries a certain melody.

- Speech has a sound, when someone is talking, he or she makes a melody - said Tijana adding that it means everybody can sing, even if they think they can't do it.

In her world, everybody is making a melody by talking.

When someone says to me that they can't sing, i always say to the person "but you just sang those tones" - she explains.

While some people are bothered by absolute hearing, Tijana said that she has no problems with the sounds that are not considered conventionally pretty, like the noise of metro or other traffic. However, if someone sings very high pitched tones, Tijana can feel really uncomfortable.

- I can't listen to high pitched tones or badly tuned instruments - she reveals.

Tijana has been composing for some time, despite her young age. She recently won a reward on the international competition "Golden Key", organized in New York, and she is promoting young talents around the world.

Belgrade has its own waltz

Her "Belgrade waltz" won the third place in the competition among 68 young artists from 17 countries, from four continents.

I screamed with joy - said Tijana.

Her mother, translator by profession, understood that Tijana is maybe talented after noticing that her daughter is often singing different melodies, ever since she was little. When she was five, she took her to music school, where they confirmed that Tijana has music talent. She had private classes for three years, before she enrolled to music school "Josip Slavenski" when she was 8 years old. She has been there ever since, under the mentor of Tatjana Djordjevic and Marina Radic.

She has amazing support of her parents, as well from the teachers of her elementary school, she has to go, next to the music school. She is also taking German language classes (which she loves) and she is training karate. Despite all obligations, it doesn't seem that its difficult for her.

- I can't imagine my life without music, parents and teachers are my greatest support - said Tijana and says that many children going to music school are not happy there because they are signed up by their parents.

- There are many children in music school who go there just to have some obligations. They are often not interested at all - she admits.

Studies in Vienna

Tijana wants to continue her music career. However, she would like to complete Primary and High school first. She dreams about studying in Vienna and she would love to become a composer one day.

She is currently working on her second composition she named "Rivers of Serbia: Sava, Danube and Rzav" and she is very serious about her job. Last week, her mother took her to the Sava coast near Savamala, to depict her the sound if river.

- Sava is a bit tricky, because, it is a bit quick from one point. And from the other, it is a very calm river, it looks like a flat plate, and there is no movement on it. It looks as if it is flowing and it just stops - Tijana notices.

Ode to Sava, Danube and Rzav

Its changing nature means that Tijana doesn't have idea yet how the composition is going to sound, but she is not worried much. Her mother promised her that she will make her company in cruising Danube, which sounds exciting. It is enough to hear the river only once.

- One time is really enough to understand the sound of Sava, i just don't know when will we go to Rzav - wonders the little girl. This river is more than three hour drive with a car away.

However, she is not discouraged by obstacles on the way. Nor numerous obligations, 15 rewards so far, she is not stressed.

- I am rally happy that music exists, i can't imagine my life without it. I am happy that my mom noticed i have talent for it. I create music that makes me happy and i am overjoyed that music exists - Tijana concludes.
