The Serbian government adopted a decree on the program of incentives for migrants in 2017 which stipulates that the budget of 320 million dinars will be set aside in order to improve the living conditions of these people.

Increased number of attempted of illegal entry of migrants in Serbia

This practically means that the families of migrants will be able to receive 200,000 dinars, which is planed for them to start their own business in agriculture or handicrafts, up to 1,400,000 dinars the state is willing to finance the purchase and renovation of rural households to provide a roof over their head while in displacement, reports Blic.

Local governments that will evaluate the kind of help migrants will receive will apply for help from the state budget.

The Government of Serbia decided to help improve their quality of life in this way because it is obvious that solving their refugee status in Serbia could take longer than anticipated.

Due to restrictive policies for the reception of migrants in the EU, their number is growing in Serbia, the Government decided that these people should be provided with humane living conditions, and it is estimated that it is cheaper in the long run for the state because migrants will work for a living, which is not the case now.
