Hundreds of families at the Adriatic offer free vacation: The whole Balkans has united for a noble goal

The more beautiful, humane side of the social network, shows us from time to time that there are still people who are ready to fight to make others feel better. So these days, one great initiative has spread to the Adriatic coast with lightning speed. It started from Prostir on Brac, under the slogan "Not everything is about the money" with the aim of providing free stay at seaside to families from all over the region who have children with disabilities.

RENTERS WITH A HEART  

In just two weeks since the founding of the Facebook "Renters with a heart" group, it has more than 5,000 members and hundreds of owners of apartments along the Adriatic who offer their apartments for free.

The action was supported by some catering facilities, and this is one of the posts on the group:

- All families near Biograd na Moru have a lunch or dinner with us, a tavern "Aquarium", just let me know a little before arrival.

This, praiseworthy action, found support in Neum.

Ines and Zeljko Glavinic and honorary consul of Bosnia and Herzegovina in New South Wales, Djemila Talic Gabriel, with his wife, Chris Gabriel have opened the doors of their homes to children with Down's syndrome and autism and their parents.

- Thanks to my neighbor from Neum, Ines Glavinic, I learned about the action and immediately joined the group "Renters with a heart" and offered free accommodation to families who have children with Down's syndrome and autism. Within 10 minutes from posting to the group, I received numerous messages and the reception was completed by the end of October, and soon we expect the first families - the story of Talic Gabriel, who has been doing humanitarian work for years.

There will be 10 families from various parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mostar, Sarajevo, Prnjavor, Banja Luka ...

- I am very happy that my husband and me can provide at least a little of the the necessary happiness and smile to the faces of children and their parents who are different from us only in dealing with their illness in an exceptional way. I would also take this opportunity to appeal to others to get involved in action and to enable children and their families to feel the summer spell with the smell of the sea: Open the door, bring smile and happiness to the faces of children, it doesn't cost much! - said Talic Gabriel to all the people of the big heart and revealed to us that, regardless of whether the action becomes traditional or not, the doors of her home will open children with Down's syndrome and autism and their parents in the future.

During the summer, three families from Bosnia and Herzegovina will stay in the apartments of Zeljko Glavinic. He tells us that he and his wife have not even doubted for a moment whether they should join the group and offer free accommodation.

- My wife found out on social networks for action and we immediately decided to support it. The simple heart decides, you have to help. We received more than 100 inquiries, but unfortunately we are able to receive only three families, because the apartments have already been reserved. I believe in the humanity of my fellow citizens, and I hope that many more will open their doors to these families whose life is everyday struggle against prejudice and ignorance - emphasizes Glavinic.

HELP "FROM THE SHADOWS" 

Behind this initiative is a "ordinary" woman from the island of Brac, Vjera Matulic, who lives her entire life doing humanitarian work, but from the shadows.

Two weeks ago, when she decided to set up a Facebook group, she could not imagine such public support and so many people who are willing to offer free accommodation.

- I thought it would be great if five renters came in and offered free accommodation. So this is out of all my expectations. What I like a lot less is that my name has become public, I'm simply not used to it and I'm not comfortable with it. If i started all over again, I know that I would never reveal my name and surname - Vjera tells us, adding that since the action has grown, she would like to connect renters from Montenegro, and first ones already answered.

- Due to documents, paperwork and distance, many families who came to us from Bosnia and Herzegovina would have easier way going to Montenegro. Today we have received a few renters from this country and I sincerely hope that they will join the action. I would also stress that transport is a problem for many families, because they have been impoverished with long-term treatment and therapy. Two families from Banja Luka called us, free holiday would mean a lot to them, but they do not have money to travel. It would be best if the City, Center for Social Work or any kind of humanitarian organization, as in our country in Croatia, covered their transport costs - emphasizes Matulic, who contacted the Association "Old paper for a new smile" to secure the transport of the families from Croatia, who cannot afford to travel.

DRIVING WITH HEART

They launched Facebook Group "Drivers with a Heart", which organizes transportation to the sea to those who can not afford it.

On this occasion, Vjera asked all interested to follow the simple rules of the page and not to overwhelm the inbox and wall with numerous posts.

Parents should only look at the wall of the group and choose the right accommodation and then contact the renter in the inbox and all the other details to arrange with the renter.

The renter has the right to accept a family or to refuse it, and the family needs to prove the problem with which the child is facing, in order to avoid fraud and abuse.
