The first pot is the winners of groups of Europa League and four better-placed teams eliminated in the group phase of the Champions League, while the other pot will have four worse placed teams eliminated in the group phase of the Champions League and the teams from Europa League.

Pot 1: CSKA Moscow, Atletico Madrid, Sporting, Leipzig, Villarreal, Milan, Arsenal, Lazio, Dinamo Kiev, Braga, Atalanta, Lokomotiva, Victoria Plzen, Salzburg, Bilbao, Zenit.

Pot 2: Celtic, Spartak Moscow, Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, Nice, Partizan, Red Star, Astana, Ludogorets, AEK, Lyon, Copenhagen, Steaua, Marseille, Ostersund, Sociedad.

Clubs from the same country can't meet in the first elimination round, nor the teams who were in the same group in Europa League.
