Final Four in Belgrade 2020? Vesic discovered that we are preparing a new candidacy!

The city manager of the capital of Serbia, Goran Vesic, hinted after the Final Four of the Euroleague that the new final tournament could be played in Belgrade again.

He did this via Facebook, on Monday morning, while he was a guest at TV Prva and he spent most of the time analyzing basketball events in Belgrade which took place in the last weekend, from the organizational perspective.

This final four was one of the better-organized ones so far, everything went in perfect order and without incidents, Belgrade was a perfect location for all the guests from Russia, Latvia, Spain, and 15.000 fans came from Turkey alone to watch the matches.

However, they left home sad because Real Madrid has won the title and they made a smaller army of fans happy, but rarely anyone had a bad experience in Belgrade and they all showed how much they enjoyed Serbia on every step.

So far it is known that the next Final Four will be held in Vitoria next year, and the year 2020 could be hours.

- We plan on sending a new memo and a new candidacy in the middle of June to the Euroleague for 2020, and we have the support of the president of Serbia and all other institutions. We will propose to organizers to give us a contract for three years, they said that this was the best-organized tournament so far - Vesic said at TV Prva, with the remark that the Euroleague showed satisfaction with everything that took place here.

- Everybody said that this was the best so far, the atmosphere was great, without any incidents, and I believe that we will have the chance to organize it in 2020. I believe that we have the advantage because they saw in Euroleague that this is the right place. Euroleague never placed a host in one city, it was a different host each year, but I believe that we have the chance. We will send our candidacy in June, and we will see if we are going to get it. 

The fans have satisfied the appetites of the hospitality workers.

- Taking in consideration that the fans spent three nights, or four days, the average tourist leaves 300 euros, without counting the hotel, that is at least 18 millions of income, not just for Belgrade, but for all employees, taxes, shopping malls... That means, between 18 and 20 million euros came to our city in these three days. That could be seen in Skadarlija, where they were amazed and where they broke records in these few days. This was a right move, and the broadcast went to over 200 countries, which is important for the city. 

The sports infrastructure aspect is not negligible.

- This was the opportunity to improve the sports object, that all remains in Belgrade. We will continue with the policy to have a large sports event each year. We have the Europen championship in the women's basketball.
