US Vice President of the Atlantic Council, Damon Wilson, who visited Serbia, said the US would not impose solutions on the Kosovo problem and assessed that it was possible to overcome the current stalemate in the negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina.

- The United States has clearly said it will support this process, they will support an unconditional dialogue. It is a signal that if you can agree, we will support it. You have seen the letters of the President (Donald) Trump to the leaders, demonstrating commitment. We will not impose solutions. But there is a willingness to engage in reaching an agreement - Wilson told Voice of America after completing his visit to Belgrade.

He said that at this moment Serbia does not control Kosovo and Metohija (KiM) and that at this moment Kosovo's issue stops Serbia and limits its possibilities.

- Tough talks that Vucic had in parliament and in public must bring Serbia in a state of facing reality so that it can focus on the economy, the future, the creation of jobs for young people. At present, there are talks about Kosovo everywhere and oxygen is consumed. You need to have a leadership that is focused on economics, jobs, entrepreneurship, speeding up the way to the EU. Kosovo is slowing down Serbia. President Vucic was clear about the possibilities that could arise if there is an agreement with Pristina - said Wilson.

He thinks that it is not a good moment for dialogue, but all of this can be solved.

- It requires persistent determination about what your interests really are and how to get them, and push the dialogue in the direction where results can be obtained - says Wilson.

Wilson believes that the US and EU ties are not so firm in terms of KiM as they should be.

- We need to march in the same direction, to focus on the same result. This will require a bit more diplomatic cooperation. So I think the United States should enter the process, to be a constructive force in this process. It should be remembered that we are not interested only in the process, we are interested in the result. We need to be concentrated on achieving these results. It is not up to us to impose anything. We want to support everything that the Serbs and Kosovars agree on - said Wilson.

Delegation of the Washington Council of Washington, headed by Wilson, paid a two-day visit to Serbia, during which he met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Ana Brnabic.
