Vucic warns: Price of diesel should be 290 dinars tomorrow, Europe faces threat of BIGGEST ENERGY CRISIS
President Aleksandar Vucic addressed the public on Monday to reveal that he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier in the day.
"We got another three months extension of the (Russian) gas supply contract, on very favorable terms. Today, gas costs around 645 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters, while we essentially pay between 320 and 360 dollars," said Vucic.
"I asked Putin what he thought about the end of hostilities in Ukraine and the Middle East, and he asked me about Kosovo and Metohija. We exchanged opinions, I informed him about the (military) alliance between Pristina, Tirana and Zagreb," said Vucic.
The president also said that he fears the price of oil will keep rising.
"If this catastrophe continues, the world, especially Europe, will face the biggest energy crisis in history," he warned.
"Germany cannot withstand it, no one can," he pointed out.
The price of diesel should be 290 dinars per liter, Vucic said in response to journalists' asking about oil prices and market trends.
"It's 213 at gas stations. So, today it should be 273, and tomorrow 290. How long can the state of Serbia maintain (the price) - we will for some time. If this continues, there will be a complete collapse. This is leading the whole world to ruin, especially Europe," he warned.
Speaking about local elections held on Sunday in 10 municipalities and cities, Vucic said that "the winners, smart coaches, wise politicians, will in every victory look for reasons for possible failure in the future, while eternal losers will ask for the defeat of the other side, not accepting responsibility for their own."
The president stressed that there were lists that received 11 percent of the votes, "but they were not against Vucic but against people from the SNS at the local level."
"Because they were often arrogant. And the fact that they see the difference between 65 and 65.5 percent is their business. When you lose by 50 index points, and someone gets three times as many votes as you, and then you say that someone has a problem, in that case, ok," Vucic.
The president added that he is trying to analyze all the shortcomings.
"There is a list in Knjazevac that is not against us, but against our people locally. In Bor, we got 40 percent more votes than in the previous elections. If they are happy about it, they don't need to worry. I am especially happy about Lucane, I am not happy about our work in Arandjelovac and Kula. We will have to change a lot of things there, I'm already scheduling meetings for tomorrow where decisions will be made on what to change, which new people to bring in," said Vucic.
He stressed that he has read the results of new surveys.
"Things are getting better for us, people understand the situation better, but we still have a lot to do. We will publish an exclusive recording today, they (opposition) lied a lot about what happened yesterday," Vucic emphasized.
"You will see them beating a man. The man's name is David Ciric. Ten of them beat him, inflicted serious injuries. That happened in Bor. I spoke with him this morning," Vucic said.
Late on Sunday, Vucic declared that the SNS-led list won in all 10 cities and municipalities where local elections were held. Citizens voted in Bor, Smederevska Palanka, Kula, Bajina Basta, Lucani, Sevojno, Arandjelovac, Kladovo, Knjazevac and Majdanpek. Although there were by and large no irregularities during the voting itself, the end of the day was marked by tensions.
A number of incidents happened outside the polling stations, and in some places the Gendarmerie intervened to separate the supporters of the ruling party and the opposition who gathered after the polls closed. During the day, opposition representatives raised objections about the work of call centers and alleged pressure on voters, while the ruling party rejected these accusations, referring to them as a " witch hunt".
