Third Basic Court in Belgrade sentenced Aleksandar Stojanovic (46) today, called Pile from New Belgrade, the security measure of compulsory psychiatric treatment and confinement in a medical institution, because he is not sane, and he was not fit to stand trial.

Stojanović has caused great public attention after shooting out of the vehicle in August last year on New Belgrade, and hiding for 18 hours in a building.

The Court made this decision on the proposal of the prosecution, and after hearing two expert psychiatrists commissions.

Stojanovic was sentenced to treatment in the facility of "open type, which means he won't be criminally responsible because of mental instability.

As the investigation concluded, Stojanovic, on 25 August in the evening from his "BMW" - shot through the open window while driving into "Opel Insignia", in which he fired two shots, and then in the "Passat", in which he fired one shot.

After that he ran to a building where he was hiding at a friend who will be subject to liability, because he helped him after the commission of the offense.

Third basic prosecutor suggested to sentence Velizar Jovanovic and his wife Milica to one year of house detention, because they were hiding Stojanovic, said prosecution spokesman.

The prosecution has also requested six months in prison for a brother and sister Emila and Branislav Brajkov who were also involved in hiding Stojanovic.

They hid his five handguns, which police found in dog food.
