Djani saved the life of his nephew (3) who fell down 21 meter deep well: Even firefighters were amazed with what he did (PHOTO)

Djani Draguitinovic (41) lives in France, he came to Leticane near Bjelovar a month ago to visit his sister and nephew, writes 24sata.hr. He could not even imagine that he will be saving his nephew who well down the well by accident.

- As soon as i heard that the board on a well came down with a bank, i knew that he sister's son (3) fell down the well. The moment before i saw him besides the well. I moved the boards and started going down without thinking. I could not jump in because i would fall down on  him and we could not save him - he said.

He was holding with his hands and legs to the ends of the well and he kept looking at the water. He didn't see the nephew but he was sure that he was at the bottom of the pool. At one moment, the boys head surfaced and the uncle skillfully grabbed him with one head and he put him in his lap, while he was holding to the walls of the well.

Feverishly thinking, he looked toward the mouth of the well and thought how to call for help. Fortunately, folks have called an ambulance, police and firefighters, who quickly arrived at a place where men fight not only for his life but also for nephew's life. Djani said that seconds went by like eternity on that afternoon. He was relieved when he saw firefighters at the end of the well.

- They put a man 15 meter down deep with a cable and he took the little one out of the well, and then they took me out of the pool - said Djani.

When we congratulated him, he just quietly said that he would do the same on his place. The little boy was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, and it was determined that he has no injuries.

- Luckily he didn't hit the head of the well because he wouldn't survive 15 meter drop to the water - said DJani, while the boy is sitting in his lap and waves his legs.

He said that a toy was on the well and he wanted to reach it but the boards moved, writes 24sata.hr. When asked if he goes to the well now, he stopped and looked at the uncle. Only when his uncle took him by the hand he bravely walked with him to the place where he almost lost his life.

Residents have put tires and few concrete blocks over the well to make sure that something like this never happens again. Bjelovar police confirmed the drama in the Leticani home number 55, because the firefighters said praises about Djani.

- It is rare that two people can be found in a well. Well done to mister Djani who reacted the way he did. We do this kind of work and we are amazed with what he did - said Darko Despot, who was there during the intervention.

He added that these kinds of interventions rarely end up well, luckily Djani was dry and he heated the boy with his body, which prevented the boy from freezing.
