The World Bank declared Serbia the best country in Southeast Europe by the criterion of implemented reforms, which made it more attractive to foreign investors.

Recognition was received on behalf of the Government of Serbia by State Secretary in the Ministry of Economy Milun Trivunac.

The World Bank praised the reform moves of Serbia, especially highlighting the adoption of the Law on Investments, the ministry said in a statement.

As stated at the Attraction of Investments Competition Forum in Vienna, Serbia has been designated as the most innovative country in this part of Europe in attracting foreign investment.

- Serbia has made progress in many competitive areas, and according to the analysis of the competitiveness index of 12 pillars, we have made the biggest progress in the eight most important areas - Trivunac announced who is participating in the forum with the acting director of Development Agency of Serbia, Rados Gazdic.

Trivunac said that in the coming period, the Ministry of Economy will be focusing on measures to increase competitiveness, which will also contribute to the increase in economic growth rates.

He outlined six key measures - attracting strategic investments, increasing exports, faster start-up companies, and greater contribution to fast-growing small and medium companies, regional specialization in the processing industry, solving the problem of big losers and creating a new industrial policy.

- The Ministry of Economy, in cooperation with the World Bank, is working on the adoption of a new industrial policy by 2030, within which measures and mechanisms focusing on the development of innovations, implementation of the concept of Industry 4.0 and the smart specialization of the processing industry of Serbia will be defined, said Trivunac in the statement.
