MUSLIMS LIVE IN PRISTINA: Here's how Albanians banned a Serbian priest from ringing the church bells!

- I was with the sacristan in the street in front of the church when that man approached and threatened me. We didn't know who he was referring to, but he called over to me with a wave of the hand. I was taken aback, but also upset about the cruelty of the man who threatened me - says the priest Darko Marinkovic

Pristina parish priest Darko Marinkovic said today that one person in the center of the city threatened him to no longer ring the church bells, because Muslims live in Pristina.

The Parish priest rang the bells this morning in the church of St. Nikola in Pristina, after which the incident occurred.

- I was with the sacristan in the street in front of the church when that man approached and threatened me. We didn't know who he was referring to, but he called over to me with a wave of the hand. I was taken aback, but also upset about the cruelty of the man who threatened me, so I did not immediately report  the incident to the police officer who was sitting in the cabin not far from us. The police keep an eye on us and the church 24 hours a day. I reported the threat to police only after returning from Laplje Selo, where I served a memorial service today - said Marinkovic for Agency Beta.

The Parish priest said that the bell on the partially restored Serbian Orthodox Church in Pristina, which was completely burnt down in March 2004, sounded for the first time these days after a year when the ringing was interrupted because of the threats.

"The government is facing major challenges and is under big pressure over Kosovo-Metohija"

- This incident today, is not the first time that I have experienced threats. I am sure that the man who threatened me this morning, is the same one that threatened me a year ago that he would, along with his brothers, set fire to the church again - said Marinkovic.

The Parish priest who lives in the rectory with his family, said that he informed the Diocese of Raska-Prizren and Kosovo-Metohija of the Serbian Orthodox Church of today's threats.
