The majority owner of a Croatian chair production company for Europe is Miladin Markovic, who, due to his successful business, is one of the most discerning directors in the Balkans!

- We employ more than 400 workers. Their average age is 36.5 years. It means that we have a large number of young people, but also a significant part of the elderly who are close to retirement. We are constantly looking for a workforce. We need a different kind of employees to process wood, from carpenters to technicians to engineers of different profiles. Their salary is around 20 to 25 percent higher than the average in the wood processing industry - he explained for Tportal.hr.

As he said, he needs more carpenters and technicians for the million chairs that they export annually to France, Germany, and Italy.

For this purpose, this company provides scholarships to high vocational schools, whose students are given employment after paid practice. And the good news is that the wage is never late with Markovic.

- During these 20 years, since I have been the head of the company, the salary was late twice, for two days. I couldn't set my foot in front of the workers because I was ashamed. I would resign and leave the factory if the wages were late for 15 days - Markovic is honest.

Miladin learned the business from his Italian colleagues, and it is no Surprise that he spends up to 12 hours in the plant.

- We have ups and downs, depending on the trends in the market, or the demand of our buyers, but also the competition is very strong. We have to be aware that we are less and less competitive in Croatia. The price of work is getting higher, and our productivity is not the highest. The only way to survive is an investment in knowledge and technology. That is why we are giving scholarships to students - Markovic said.
