The witnesses were questioned again on Thursday in front of the Higher Court in Belgrade in the case of Tanja Lakic Mahud (27), who is suspected to have killed her eight month old baby Anja in September last year, whose body was found in a nylon bag in family apartment in Jerkovic, Belgrade. She asked to be released from prison to celebrate the birthday of her older daughter, but the court did not allow it.

- I lost one child, i don't want to lose another. Please, let me out of here, i am desperate for my child. I will be in my apartment, you can always find me there. She is celebrating 17th birthday in May, give me another chance - said Tanja through tears.

Her husband is allegedly planing to go abroad and to take their daughter, so she won't have the opportunity to see her. The court dismissed this request to cancel detention.

The witnesses were questioned again, and N.K. (48) is among them, who she met exclusively for drugs, as Tanja said.

- I have seen her few times, she is just another passing person in my life. I have never been in her apartment. She embarrassed me, and my family, but i have nothing bad to say about her - said the witness N.K.

However, when the accused and the witness faced each other, there was a fight.

- You know yourself that i came to you and Natasa only for drugs. You came to my apartment in Jerkovic - said the accused Tanja and N.K. responded:

- What do you want from me? How are you not ashamed to look at me in the eye and to lie to me? Do you want to accuse me perhaps for murdering your baby? I sleep well, remember that.

Other witnesses have remained with their previous statements. As they say, Tanja was always nice towards them.

- She was always neat, you couldn't see the baby dirty. There were no signs of neglect of abuse - said the first neighbor of the accused.

The other witnesses said they never saw N.K. who allegedly brought her the drugs.

Attorney of the accused asked for DNA which is found on the terrace and classified as "biological traces of unknown persons", to be compared to the DNA of the witness N.K.

The Court is still considering the proposal, and at the next hearing, which is scheduled for May 19th forensic experts will be examined.
