Many of them are on a thorny path through countries where they beat them, humiliated them, and treated as unwanted, but in Serbia they were welcomed with smiles.

Since the beginning of 2016, 100.000 migrants passed through Serbia, and in 2015 the number was around 600.000 of those seeking EU countries - it was stated for "Telegraf" news agency from the Refugee center.

- The big wave of migrants started in the second half of 2015, while in the first 6 months the situation was rather calm. Since the profiling is conducted on Macedonian-Greek border, the number of refugees dropped.

Radoš Đurović, manager of the Center for protection of the asylum seekers said that the situation in Serbia is stable, but if the migrant route changes, we will again become a passing stop.

- Croats send back half of the migrants we send from Serbia, and we accept them. We have around 400 now in the city of Šid, and 500 in the town of Preševo, who were also deported from Croatia. Many migrants were sent back because they did not have the right papers, so we have a daily number of around 1000 migrants - said Đurović.

- Not many people ask for asylum in Serbia. The number is around 10%, and they are just buying time to wait for the right moment to go to the EU. Some 400, 500 people have asked for asylum in Serbia.

Đurović added that Serbia will continue to use the same policy, without using force against the migrants.

Refugee centers in Serbia have 6.000 places capacity, and the migrants can always count for a warm word, a bed, and food.

Balkans Migration Center and the Catholic Relief Services donated 16.000 Euro to Serbia in order to help the migrants.

The funds are for the salaries for the people in the refugee centers, and engaging more people if necessary so that the migrants could have all the help they need.

Swarming of the migrants on the Macedonian-Greek border started last week when Macedonia started controlling people from Syria and Iraq very strictly, like the other countries did.

Now the focus is on that border where thousands of migrants are waiting to pass.
