KOLINDA URGES NIKOLIC FOR NEGOTIATIONS: We are not blocking Serbia, we insist on criteria

She repeated that Croatia is not blocking Serbia towards the membership in the EU, but she emphasized that Zagreb will continue to insist that Belgrade fulfills other criteria

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic announced today that she called for President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic and to settle all questions contentious for Serbia's membership to EU, be settled on the negotiations table.

She repeated that Croatia is not blocking Serbia towards the membership in the EU, but she emphasized that Zagreb will continue to insist that Belgrade fulfills Copenhagen, Madrid and other criteria.

Emphasizing that its in Croatia's favor for Serbia to get membership as soon as possible, Grabar - Litanovic said that she had a open dialogue with President Nikolic today and she called for Serbia and Croatia to settle all of the questions at the table for negotiations.

- I urged for Nikolic, Serbia and Croatia should sit at the table and settle the questions about the Chapter 23 and to define others measures for defining which Serbia took on it self in order to open the Chapter 23 - said Grabar-Kitarovic in Sarajevo, in the statement for the media after the meeting of the leaders of South-East Europe in Brdo-Brioni process.

Kitarovic, answering the questions of the media, said that she doesn't want to speak about the details, and that it is important to focus on the present and the future, not on the past.

She noted that Croatia is the last member to enter EU, but reminded that it is the first to enter the Stabilization and Association Agreement.

According to her, Croatia knows how hard the reforms were, the country faced the challenge of requiring to do something that was never asked of the state before.

- But finally, when you see what has been done, Croatia is a better country, and all that has been invested in the joining process is in benefit of all citizens of Croatia, as well as the people, the same for minorities - concluded Grabar - Kitarovic.
