When, in the late 18th century, a foreign vessel landed to the dock of Budva, a one-armed Russian nobleman headed straight into Praskvica, where he wanted to find peace. He immediately suggested that the village Celobrdo should be connected with the sea, vowing to lifelong silence, he moved into a separate house.

Since the idea was approved, he went into the woods every day, with a piece of pumpkin bread and water, where he cleared the wild vegetation and debris, setting stone by stone in the path that this to this day beautiful. He did all of this in silence, not telling anyone why is he there and why did he leave Russia.

Soon, another traveler arrived to monastery: it was a young man who presented himself as a priest Jelises, with such a lovely voice, that the priests couldn't wait for him to sing to them.

Generally accepted by all, the abbot wanted of Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Jelisej, in Cetinje, to ordain to the monk, but the gentle young newcomers constantly refused.

After spending four years in the monastery, he fell into the bed sick and there was no medicine for him, he was terribly ill. At one night, he asked from monks to lite him a candle and bring old man Jerog in his hut, and to leave them alone.

When the old man sat down at the edge of his bed, he watched the yellowed face of the young man with dripping tears, he recognized that look. Worn out by illness Jelisej took off his black monk's cap, under which the scattered brown hair was hiding and Jegor he saw his daughter Jekaterina. With his one hand he firmly embraced her.

At noon, the "young monk" had died, and monks who have learned that all the time he was a pretty girl, they pledged themselves to keep this a secret. They buried him, and with him his secret.

Jegor, who continued to build his own road, did not speak for a long time: after a year or two, about 1908 the road of unusual Russians was completed.

After decade of work, he laid the last plate on top of the hill Celobrdo, and then went in his room, from which he did not go out until one day they found him dead. He was buried next to the foundation of the Church of St. Nikola.

Before he died, he broke his covenant: sensing the end, he confessed to the monk who nursed Jelisej, actually Jekaterina.

As he said, Jegor was a senior officer of Imperial Russia, satisfied with the service, and proud of the beautiful and clever daughter Jekaterina, who saw on one officer's Ball the handsome captain.

She sparked the love, but it Jekaterina and captain looked at it differently. She loved him, but he just wanted adventure.

Angry and hurt, her father challenged to a duel his would-be son-in-law: the captain took the first shot and seriously wounded Jegor Stroganova in the arm and flank, but he then he shot him right in the heart.

Jegor was under long treatment, but the doctors had to amputate his left arm. When he got out of the hospital, new troubles emerged - his beloved daughter was not at home. He searched her from monastery to monastery for seven years, until a boat took him from Saint Petersburg to Budva.

After a while, the daughter wanted to find him, so he came to the monastery disguised as a monk. Nobody would have never discovered that if she did not fell on the bed and revealed her true face to her father Jegor.

In honor and gratitude to Jegor Stroganov, local villagers at the scene, erected a memorial plaque.

From the monastery named after a nearby stream, whose water tasted praskve - peaches, to the sea, stretches a stone path that its (single) hand monk Jegor Stroganov made.

In addition, this monastery is where Novak Djokovic, the world's most powerful tennis player, took a vow of eternal love in his Jelena Ristic in year 2014.

ALL THE MAGIC OF THE MONASTERY

In addition to stories of tragedy and the reunion of father and daughter, Praskvica is hiding other secrets: in its treasury a real treasure is hidden. There is gold cross from Emperor Dusan, which was transferred from the Visoki Decani, the chalice of the Russian Emperor Pavle, gift from Russian Empress Catherine, handwritten Gospel from the year 1600 of Gavrila Cetinjac, gift of Bishop Danilo, Balsini stone of "table Justice" on which a tribal Assembly Pastrovic convened (on which they made a number of historically important decisions), priceless frescoes and icons, around  5.000 books...

The year of foundation of the monastery is considered to be made in 1413, as evidenced by preserved charter of Balsa III, which speaks about the construction of the church of St. Nikola. According to tradition, however, the monastery is much older, however, the monastery church of the Holy Trinity is considered to have been built in 1050.

Although there is no reliable data on this, there is a tradition that on the site of today's sacred monastery, one existed even during the 11th century, but it is not known when it was built.

What is known is that the beginning of the 15th century, when Balsa III Stracimirovic ruled Zeta , he donated land to the monastery to settle Praskvica. Document that proves it are still kept in the Bay of Kotor, and there are two of his translations, on the Italian and Slovenian, which occurred later.

One of the known facts is that Russia helped the monastery, there are material proofs of the monetary help from Russian empress Katarina II and Tzar Pavle and Aleksandar I.

When, during the second half of the 18th century, due to the abolition of privileges they had under Venetian republic tribesmen Pastrovic (which this monastery was the spiritual and political center) fought against the army of Napoleon Bonaparte, who at that time occupied Primorje, French soldiers shoot monks Dionis Ljubisa and Petronio Mikovica, robbed the monastery, destroyed a large part of the archive and destroyed the church of St. Nikola.

The tradition recorded that the sea around St Stefan was white for days from the paper the French soldiers ripped and tossed from the monastery.

In the mid 19th century Archimandrite Sinesije Davidovic, monk Josif Mitrovic and locals rebuild the main monastery church, but during the devastating earthquake in 1979, the monastery Praskvica was again quite damaged.

Otherwise, not far from the monastery Praskvica and the main monastery church of St. Nikola, a small church of the Holy Trinity is located.

Monastery Praskvica today is under the jurisdiction of the Serbian Orthodox Church, its male and it is active, and it is lead by father Dimitrije.
