Tradition is continued this year as well - there was a swimming competition to get the Holy Cross for Epiphany holiday, and first among the heroes who jumped into freezing cold water of Danube was Slavisa Ivanovic!
The jubilee 20th Epiphany swimming was in honor of the hero of Albanian Golgotha.
The organizers were Municipality Zemun and Svebor Association of Belgrade, and the man in late thirties managed to get to the cross first and be in the company of Patriarch Irinej. After the victory he had the strong message to Serbian people:
- We, Serbs, we must be united, to believe in God and to return to our roots! The conditions were harsh, but it was like this before as well... We are not that cold. We were already numb outside. My victory? God's providence, nothing else... It was for the honor of the hero of Albanian Golgotha - said the winner.
People who swam were mostly not amateurs, but people who were prepared for the most difficult physical strains. Hero who reached the cross first - professional stuntman.
There was around 300 participants, and the temperature was below 0 in Belgrade at the time!
