SERBIAN COUPLE SHAKES AMERICA: Their citizenship has been seized, they are deported and the top of the state reacted to that

The US Supreme Court discussed about a move of Trump administration in the case of immigration on Wednesday, and Judge John Roberts said that the government can easily take away the citizenship of people for lying about a few cheeky fouls.

US senator "does not believe" there will be war again in former Yugoslavia

Tramp administration says that even small lies about speeding or not mentioning the nickname one had in childhood, can lead to loss of citizenship.

Roberts, who often warns about the large power of government in criminal cases, said that "reading" the administration of immigration law can lead to "abuse of prosecution".

Roberts and other Supreme Court judges gave their support to deported immigrant Divna Maslenjak, who was stripped of her US citizenship after she falsely stated that her husband was not in the army of the Bosnian Serbs during the nineties after the collapse of Yugoslavia, writes Associated Press.

The Court is currently considering a case of ethnic Serb from Bosnia, who was stripped of citizenship for lying about the circumstances that had led her to the US.

Divna Meslenjak and her family were granted refugee status in 1999 and settled near the city of Akron, Ohio, a year later. She became a citizen of America in 2007. She said that her husband Ratko was not in the army of Bosniak Serbs at the beginning to the immigration officials. Later she admitted that she lied, and lower court have confirmed the criminal certificate against her.

The verdict automatically revoked her citizenship, and she and her husband were deported in October last year.

Ratko Maslenjak was charged in 2007 that he came to the immigration benefits by trickery, and Divna Maslenjak was accused of fraud in 2014 in the process of naturalization and that she falsely presented her self in the procedure against her husband.

They both lost their status (immigration benefits) by the decision of an immigration judge on 19 May 2016.

Judge Roberts tried to illustrate the importance of distinguishing between the untruths with an example of excessive speed.

- Some time ago, I was driving 60 miles per hour in the part in which the limit was 55. I wasn't arrested. Now, if i reply with "no" about speeding, 20 years after being naturalized as a citizen, you can knock on my door and say: "You know what, after all, you are not American citizen" - said Roberts.

However, judge Stevens doesn't agree with his colleague.

- The point is that Congress has specifically referred to all the false statements made under oath in these proceedings. It is expressly prescribed that it is a crime to lie under oath in the process of naturalization, even for non-material things - said Brayer.

The Associated Press writes that the decision on citizenship of Mrs. Maslenjak is expected by the end of June.
