Vasilije is the most desirable doctor in Belgrade, and women easily show him their breasts for what he can do

Vasilije Vujovic (28) from Belgrade is on specialization of reconstructive, plastic and aesthetic surgery. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, after which he was working a mandatory and volunteer work in Clinical Hospital Center "Dragisa Misovic". Currently, he is on specialization in Military Medical Academy, he is also working on private clinics for aesthetic surgery as an assistant.

As he said himself, he always wanted to be a surgeon, and the fact that he was already on practice on his fifth year of study on the department of neurosurgery in ER proves that. He is the only doctor in the family, and he breaks the prejudices that it is a family profession - both of his parents graduated from technical universities.

- Even though it sounds like a cliche, i had a vision of becoming a surgeon. It takes energy for that, and i already showed great curiosity for it. I remember the case from the ER when a patient came with a finger in a bag, and all students were stepping aside, i was the first one to jump and see what was going on, to break the ice. I felt ill after that - this young doctor begins his story for Telegraf.

Even though many consider plastic surgeons those who made many women beautiful and happy, Vasilije wants to create consciousness with people that plastic surgery is not only silicons, to say simply.

- Plastic surgery is great area. It is before everything else reconstructive surgery, which is done with people who have anomalies, with people missing a part of their body, with people who for example have skin tumor, big burns, hand injuries. There is a lot of examples with children who are lop-eared, cleft lip, joint fingers, lack of fingers and similar.

Aesthetic surgery is something different and its main characteristics is performing on healthy people, which is a danger on its own - at the start of the talk young doctor wants to show that plastic surgeon job is not only to make people pretty, even though the best income in Serbia is from this.

In the interview we talked with the Dr Vasijile Vujovic about aesthetic surgery, if more men or women go for it, what are the most asked demand, why men go for the enlargement of penis, and women work on the rest of the body, what aesthetic surgery is the most demanding, and should the unqualified surgeons be punished:

Even though you are a young doctor, still on specialization, you have practically great experience. Tell me what procedures men ask for the most and what women?

- In women, breast augmentation the most common interventions. Then there are the increase of lips and buttocks, arranging the eyelids, older women go for the facelift. Men also want fuller lips. Many come with fear, discomfort, but they all overcome it with the help of attentive surgeon. In addition to the thin lips, a lot of men have a really problematic nose, and they take care of that a lot, as well as eyelids.

What is the process of penis enlargement and what kid of complications it may occur?

- Penis enlargement is one thing, and making a penis is another. Specific with this is that during procedure, ligament that is holding a penis is cut, and when it is cut, penis can extend for 1.5-2 cm. Postoperative process can be tricky, because there can be infection of penis, urethra and testicles, and impotence could happen. However, that is a job for urologist, we plastic surgeons, are doing the filter implantation that effect the thickness of the penis. 

How present is the sex reassignment?

- It is present a lot, because it is much cheaper here than abroad, and we have a lot of good experts. It is very tricky when a man is born in a woman's body, or other way around. I think that those people should be helped, especially in our radical society. We should not condemn anyone, it should be understood, LGBT population should be supported.

As for the gender reassignment process, the process is painstaking. It lasts for years, and the process includes breast augmentation, and changes in facial features, a series of endocrinologist are included, psychologist, urologist, who prepare the patient for the procedure.

What does breast augmentation surgery means, and should women who didn't have children yet have implants?

- Breast Surgery is huge, the breast lifting is not the same with reduction, and implants. There are multiple ways to implant, silicone could be placed under the gland and the muscle. When it is placed under the muscle it doesn't interfere with breastfeeding, because the gland is intact, and if it is under the gland, there could be few problems. 

Bearing in mind that we have more and more women where we can see failed or badly performed aesthetic surgeries, what do you think, should the negligent doctors be punished who perform their job as a plastic surgeon unconscionably?

- There are a lot of people who are doing aesthetic medicine. Surgeon is a retreat from that, the unrealistic demands, there has to be a limit, it is not the matter of money, but health, that things can be complications tomorrow.

The skin becomes thinner with bigger implants, if the woman doesn't want to have implants in the future, the skin relaxes, so there are additional intervention, like lifting the skin. 

What are the prices for implants, what procedures with women is the most complicated one and how long is the post operative prices?

- Lip filler is 30.000 dinars. Lips are done quickly, in few minutes and you are done, and the postoperative period lasts up to week. With breast implants, it takes certain preparation, if you get them today, you are released to go home tomorrow, and the recovery lasts for two weeks.

Buttocks recovery lasts a but longer because the patient must not sit down, because the stitches can break. I have to say that the patients are quite docile.

Buttocks can be enlarged with aquafiller, that procedure is simpler and more smooth, but implants certainly have greater affect. It costs around 4.000 euros and the recover lasts for around a month.

Do you have experience with the installation of so-called. line in the buttocks which "raises" gluteus and gets the desired shape, and the effect lasts for up to two years?

- I am not experienced with that, my colleague Dr Gacevic and i work augmentations with fat transfer, aquafilling and implants, and they proved to be excellent methods.

How does the body react when it rejects the implant?

 - The body that wants to reject the implant will show that right away, there will be inflammation, you can notice some redness, unraveling the wound where the implant is inserted. Body simple shows the reaction right away.

Why do we often see "distorted mouth" in persons who have implanted silicone?

- They are distorted because of the silicone products and methacrylate. Metacril is a delicate matter, hyaluronan is better, because it is a natural substance.

What music do you listen during the surgery?

- I like to listen folk music. Ceca is my favorite, when i was younger my desire was to act in Ceca's videos. Also, i like listening to Toni Cetinjski, Dino Merlin, Cola. I don't really have a favorite song, but i like the new song of Halid Besic "I can't live without you", and from Saban Saulic "Zal".

What kind of girls are your choice?

- I don't like aggressive girls, my type is more mild nature. Also it is important for the girl to be interesting, fun. I like being in company of those kind of woman. Physical appearance is not crucial. The beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, so it is important that she is beautiful to me.

Considering that physical looks is your advantage, how do you cope with other women and colleagues?

 - You have to resist various temptations, much is expected from you in every moment, in every sphere of life. I have difficulties because of that, but it can feel good, man only needs to learn how to deal with that.

It is not important how anyone looks like. The most important is what you can do, and what you have in your head, especially in the work i do.

Do you ever think about going abroad?

- I would like to work in Dubai, and as far as Europe goes, it's the easiest to go to Germany. But i would love for it to be some exotic and tropical country. USA not so much, because it is very complicated to go there.

Vasilije trained kickboxing, and athletics. He also has a black belt in aikido. Now he occasionally goes to the gym, and as he made a joke, he is currently training his brain while working with patients, in 24 hour shifts. He is mostly kept up by patients and some emergency intervention.

He loves Belgrade, walking and running. His favorite parts of the city are Kosutnjak, Kalemegdan, Topcider and whenever he has time he likes to walk downtown.
