MURDER WEAPON - GUN M70A

The Zastava M70A is a semi-automatic pistol developed and manufactured by the company "Zavodi Crvena Zastava", today "Zastava Arms" from Kragujevac.

It was the successor of the M57 pistol, which was created on the basis of the Soviet gun TT. Compared to the M57 and TT, the newer M70A differs in many improvements and altered caliber. The original caliber was 7.62 x 25 mm, while for this model uses 9 x 19 mm Parabellum, also known as the "long nine".

In the years following the end of the Second World War, security forces in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia needed a strong pistol, modeled to the proven Soviet TT. "Crvena Zastava" developed an M57 pistol in a 7.62mm caliber that was immediately accepted by the police and the Yugoslav National Army as a standard gun. Later, the M70A version, which, apart from the caliber, also differed in both the safety mechanism and the casing.

The M70A version was made for the civilian market. The first variant of the M57 did not have a classical safety like the M70A. The pistol has a single action, it works on the principle of short recoil, and the locking is achieved by a drop, ie by lifting the barrel in the vertical plane. Unlike the M57, the new M70A has a barrel with six grooves (compared to the previous four).

USING THE GUN

The M70A, as well as the M57, was used as a personal weapon in the army and the police, but recent models of guns pushed these models out of service and new and more modern pistols were introduced. They were used in wars during the breakup of the SFRY, as well as in recent conflicts. This pistol is common among civilians besides police and the army.

Due to the extraordinary strength of the bullet, the pistol is used by members of organized crime. In order to reduce the recoil, this model is rebuilt by making a compensator.

The weapon has a single action, characterized by reliability and precision. The gun is a semi-automatic weapon with a safety locking system and a trigger. It operates on the principle of a short recoil of the barrel.

Ideal defensive weapon, easy to handle and maintain.

The pistol is fed from a detachable magazine with secure fitting and releasing. The pistol is put to safety position when the hammer is pulled "to the first cam".

The pistol has fixed iron sights.Metal parts of the pistol are made of high-quality alloy steel. Handgrip covers are made of selected walnut or of a polymer.

Oliver Ivanovic was shot by someone who is very skilled in weapons

- M70a pistol is actually a "TT" with 9mm caliber, first domestic pistol made for that bullet. There are no factory made silencers for the "TT", nor its version M70A, but any more skilled gunman can adapt some of the existing silencers to mount it to the "TT", even to make one, the blueprints are available on the internet - said a man for "Politika" who understand weapons very well and the tactics for their use.

CIVIL USE

The M70A is widespread among the civilians, and the army is slowly starting to use new models.

There are all kinds of weapons in illegal ownership on Kosovo and Metohija which use 9mm, and the records from 1998 and 1999 confiscations by Police are enough proof of that, during the times of conflicts and wars in the province. Of course, the weapons manufactured in Kragujevac are also present, and when it comes to 9mm PARA caliber, those are pistols, M70A, m88, and CZ99, "Politika" writes.

Model M70A is in the private ownership of the collector in the USA. The mentioned gun is the most sought-after weapon from "Zastava" arsenal which is exported to the American market. 90.000 pieces were delivered to the Americans in 2013.

At the weapons selling website, the gun M70A has a price ranging from 200-500 dollars.

The fact that semi-automatic rifle M70 is used by Jihadists of the Islamic state is enough proof that "Zastava" products are popular in the world. The members of ISIS stole the weapons from the Iraqi at the beginning of conflicts in the country, when that organization was founded.

Using the "Serbian Kalashnikov", the terrorists did a bloodshed in Paris on November 13, 2015. They bought two semi-automatic rifles Zastava M70 from the Germans.
